I bought my SDS100 new from zipscanner.com on April 9th, 2020 (Less than two months ago). Arrived on time, in new condition, all was well. Functionality of this scanner is fantastic. Programming is a breeze. Handles simulcast better than any other scanner out there. Speaker could be improved but its performance is acceptable.Feb 10, 2020 · The SDS's most likely do too. A small separate rechargeable coin like battery that was just to keep the clock going. Normally, they should last a least a few weeks to a few months if the main battery is dead. If the main battery is dead I've had mine work fine 6mo+ later. Your battery could just have lost it's charge most likely. The connector on the scanner itself is SMA female. On the SDS100, the antenna connector is recessed somewhat into the case, so a standard BNC Female -> SMA Male does not fit correctly. (It's recessed to maintain water-resistance.) It will fully seat on the scanner, and has an o-ring to maintain the weather resistance of the scanner. The REM-800B is the same antenna, but with a BNC mount. The IC-R30 far outperformed the SDS100 and rarely stopped, opened squelch without good clear voice traffic. On noisy or poor voice traffic some were unintelligible on the SDS100, the IC-R30 still had impressive clear audio. If you type a lower-case ASCII charactor from a limited set (dhlmoqrwz), several lines of formatted ASCII numbers are sent from the scanner. Alternately any USB charger will power and/or charge the SDS100 battery. If you have a smartphone or other USB device charger you can use it if you don’t want to use the charger that came with the radio. In the car you can use any USB port to power/charge the radio. When I stop the SDS100 on the exact same frequency that the TRX-1 is decoding, programmed as a DMR freq., it doesn't even make a hit on the signal bar. The firmware update for BCD436HP, BCD536HP, SDS200, and SDS100 scanners are done with the Sentinel software. Of the other two, the top one is 4.8 amps, and the second one is 4.8 amps, or if using both ports, 2.4 amps per port. Your SDS100 will want just a little under 2 amps to be able to charge while also scanning.
